Fondue Chocolate Dippers

Does fondue have to be a sit-down kind of thing?

I’m hosting my first fondue party at Christmastime and I’d like for at least 15 friends to come. The last time I had a small dinner party, my guests felt awkward and weren’t sure what to talk about (we’re in 11th grade and they aren’t used to dinner parties). I’m planning on having two different large cheese fondues which would be in the dining room and two chocolate ones on the kitchen island, surrounded by the dippers. Is it okay if my guests choose to sit or stand with plate in hand and have them walk around to dip at will? On websites, people say fondue parties are intimate and casual, but I’m hoping for a festive semi-formal dinner with several people. Will it work?

Remember Fondue is a very hot dripping dish do you want peoplke walking around with hot cheese and chocolate dripping on the carpets think about the clean up but if you insist on not having it as a sitdown make up standing stations and try to keep them over the protected areas another concern is will they be able to NOT get cute and fling the hot mixtures at each other since you in the 11th grade I assume there will not be alachaol served to make them want to play puttin hot food on each other
