Does anyone know if I can rent a Chocolate Fountain in Morocco?
I’ve heard there is not any good chocolate in Morocco and I would love to take some with me and have a choc. fountain with various fruits for my wedding celebration. If fountains aren’t available, what about fondue sets? Also I will be travelling to Morocco in October, do I need to worry about the choc. melting during my long flight (about 19 hours)?
mmoonnii I do intend to have traditional Moroccan foods, but since I’m American I would like to have some American traditions too and I heard Moroccans love good chocolate.
Thanks for the info Sarah T and yes I plan to invite all of my moroccophile friends that are in Morocco. I’ll definitely want some Americans present to help me celebrate and to talk to.
Fez: Yes I plan on being there from about the 3rd week of October to mid January. The wedding will probably be in December cuz we’re gonna need tiime to do all the paperwork and probably wont start on it until Nov.
I had to give this some thought and I think I have an answer for you. I have just gotten back from Morocco… travelled all over the country but spent most of my time outside of Rabat.
There are stores that cater and rent equipment for marriages. The Moroccan marriage ceremony is long and elaborate going well into the night (know this first-hand by being kept up two different nights because of weddings). I would check there to see what they have and then you would not have to worry about renting here and shipping it to there.
If that is indeed what you want to do then I would not worry about the chocolate melting. We shipped a lot of goodies home and there was no problem.
As for Morocco not having any good chocolate… that is a yes and a no.
Morocco itself is not known for their chocolate, but they are so close to Europe that chocolate from Belgium is found in good frequency. For whatever reason the Moroccan chocolate just does not stand up to even the tastes of Americans… don’t even spend your money on the chocolate bars they sell at the small shops (red and white wrapper), it is really bad.
Finally, if all is lost you can buy a fountain that is relatively inexpensive at local stores here. Your major problem is going to be shipping it over to Morocco, but it is another choice for you that should not set you back more than $100US.
Good luck and have fun.
